Commitment to the Community
The SAS Championship presented by Bloomberg Businessweek has benefited charitable causes in the Triangle the past 10 years. In 2011 the SAS Championship will donate proceeds to the YMCA WeBuildPeople Campaign through the Triangle Community Foundation.

About Triangle Community Foundation
Triangle Community Foundation believes that philanthropy is vital to our community’s health, and we aspire to be the region’s leading philanthropic organization. Founded in 1983, the Foundation is a publicly-supported nonprofit with a mission to connect philanthropic resources with community needs. Our strong grantmaking, along with the technical help we provide to nonprofits, is making a real difference in the community.

  • Since our inception, we have distributed an average of 10% of our assets each year, raising the total value of grants made to nearly $144 million.
  • We manage more than 740 funds, ranging in size from $10,000 to $10 million, primarily for the benefit of Wake, Durham, Orange and Chatham counties in North Carolina.
  • For our recently-concluded fiscal year, the Foundation made $15 million in grants to nonprofits, schools and community efforts, up $1 million from the previous year.

We are proud that Triangle Community Foundation has increased grantmaking to help fill the void caused by slashed funding and negative market returns during this turbulent economic downturn. The Triangle has a vibrant nonprofit sector, serving the region in vital ways, and the Foundation is pleased to partner with these organizations during this critical time. YMCA

About the YMCA of the Triangle
The Y strengthens our community through programs for healthy living and youth development. The YMCA’s WeBuildPeople Campaign makes it possible for everyone to participate regardless of their ability to pay.

Proceeds from the SAS Championship will benefit Y Learning, the YMCA’s standardized after school tutorial program. Y Learning students are in grades 3 – 8 and struggle to reach school system benchmarks. Most Y Learning students lack financial and educational support at home. Currently, more than 600 children from area schools participate in Y Learning at little or no cost, thanks to the Y’s WeBuildPeople Campaign.
