PGA Tour Champions Rookies David Toms, Jerry Kelly, and Steve Flesch have committed to play in the 2017 SAS Championship, October 13 – 15 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.
“This year’s rookie class includes a talented group of players and fan favorites from the PGA Tour,” Tournament Director Jeff Kleiber said. “To add David, Jerry, and Steve to our field at the SAS Championship will provide a few new faces for our fans to follow, and add to what could be the most competitive field in SAS Championship history.”
Toms (@davidtomsgolf), a 13-time PGA Tour winner and Major Champion (2001 PGA Championship), ranks 26th on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List. His rookie season includes three top-10 finishes to this point, including a T4 at his first event on Tour, the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai. Since turning pro in 1989, Toms has over $42 million in career earnings on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions.
Kelly (@jerrykelly13pga) currently sits at 24th on the Money List, paced by four top-10 finishes thus far in the PGA Tour Champions season. He also had his best showing of the year in his debut, with a T3 at the Chubb Classic in February. Both Kelly and Toms have over 600 career starts on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions.
Flesch (@Steve_Flesch), who turned 50 in May, collected a T5 at the Principal Charity Classic in June. The left-hander, who collected four victories on the PGA Tour in his career, also has been a golf analyst for both Golf Channel and FOX Sports.
