Kenny Perry returns to defend title October 5-7
CARY, N.C. – Tickets for the 12th annual SAS Championship presented by Bloomberg Businessweek, taking place Oct. 5-7 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, are now on sale. The tournament field is highlighted by the return of defending champion Kenny Perry. To begin ticket sales, the tournament is offering a limited quantity of the new SAS Championship Golf & Leisure Book as the perfect gift for Father’s Day.
“We are very excited to have Kenny Perry back in the Triangle to defend his title,” said Tournament Director Jeff Kleiber. “We are equally excited about the Father’s Day gift option that we have announced. This package is a tremendous value and a great gift for any golf lover.”
On sale for $129, the SAS Championship Golf & Leisure Book features a Peter Millar men’s golf shirt ($90 value), two weekly tickets to the tournament Oct. 5-7 ($80 value), discounted golf to seven area courses and additional discounts at area businesses. Participating golf courses and businesses include: Prestonwood Country Club, Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club, Carolina Trace Country Club, The Preserve at Jordan Lake, The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge, Falls Village Golf Club, National Golf Club, The Umstead Hotel & Spa and Fleming’s Steakhouse. The Golf & Leisure Book without the Peter Millar golf shirt is available for $99.
Last year, Kenny Perry (66-69-70=205) made a critical 30-foot eagle on the par-5 17th to propel him to victory at the SAS Championship. Perry won by one-stroke over Jeff Sluman and John Huston for his first title on the Champions Tour. Perry’s win came one day after the death of his 59-year-old sister Kay. “I just wanted to make her proud and somehow, you know, the eagle fell in the bottom of the cup on 17 and I felt like I know [my mom and her] were watching,” said Perry.
The tournament is also once again offering a public hospitality option to the pivotal par-5 17th hole at the SAS Championship in the form of the Eagles’ Nest. These day-specific tickets are $89 each. Each Eagles’ Nest ticket includes catered lunch, open bar and snacks within the price of the ticket. Tickets are available for Oct. 5-7.
Weekly grounds passes, valid every day of the SAS Championship, are $40. Daily tickets, valid one day, are $20. Kids 17 and under are admitted free, courtesy of the News & Observer.
